The Turnhalle, located in the middle of Berlin-Friedrichshain, offers flexibility as an event location and adapts to your individual needs through three different areas. Here you can either celebrate outdoors, both publicly and privately, in the summer garden (somewhat sheltered under large umbrellas) or indoors in the large and small halls. The former gym offers a wide range of design possibilities, whether for smaller group meetings of 50 guests or for unique and unforgettable celebrations with up to 450 guests.

The protected hall area from 1954 still features the original parquet flooring and ladder rungs from the former school gymnasium. Without columns, surrounded by a gallery, with a ceiling height of almost 7 meters and an event space of nearly 280m², the hall offers exclusive opportunities for up to 300 people.

The summer garden of the Alte Turnhalle Berlin offers a special setting for open-air humanist or independent wedding ceremonies – in the heart of Berlin yet pleasantly shielded from the hustle and bustle of the city. Surrounded by greenery, an intimate and relaxed atmosphere is created where the moment belongs entirely to you.
Afterwards, the ceremony, champagne reception, and the celebration in the hall transition seamlessly into one another. This ensures your wedding ceremony is not just an item on the agenda, but the emotional prelude to an unforgettable wedding day.

FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions
How many guests can we celebrate with at your venue?
Exclusive wedding bookings are possible from 50 guests. Depending on the seating and event concept, the ideal size for weddings is between 80 and 150 guests. In the Great Hall, up to approx. 250 guests can generally be seated.
What is the time limit for our celebration?
Parties are possible with us until a maximum of 4:00 AM.
On weekdays, the event start time is flexible. On Saturdays and Sundays, parties can start no earlier than 4:00 PM.
Is the venue wheelchair accessible?
Ja. Die Location ist ebenerdig zugänglich und verfügt über ein barrierefreies WC.
Is parking available on site?
Unfortunately, no private parking is available. The Alte Turnhalle is located in a managed parking zone. We recommend arriving and departing by public transport, taxi, or rideshare services.
Is it possible to have an independent wedding ceremony?
Yes, independent wedding ceremonies are possible both indoors and outdoors. Unfortunately, civil wedding ceremonies cannot be held at our venue.
Is there an outdoor area?
Yes, our summer garden is ideal for wedding ceremonies, champagne receptions, or cutting the cake. You can find impressions on our website.
Can we prepare and set up for our celebration the day before?
During the week, setup on the day before may be possible, provided no other event is taking place. This is reviewed on an individual basis and can be finalized at the earliest two weeks before the celebration.
On Saturdays and Sundays, setup on the day before is not possible as our Kiezbrunch takes place. One hour of setup and one hour of teardown are included in every offer.
When can decorations, flowers, and the wedding cake be delivered?
We are happy to arrange individual delivery dates in advance. An early estimate of the scope of delivery is important so that we can plan our storage capacities accordingly.
Floral arrangements are ideally delivered on the day of the celebration. Wedding cakes can arrive on Saturdays after the end of brunch, i.e., from 2:00 PM.
Do we have to take everything back with us the same evening?
Personal and valuable items – especially monetary gifts – must be taken directly after the end of the celebration.
Decorations such as vases or candles may remain with us for one to two days by prior arrangement. The prerequisite is clear coordination regarding storage, packaging, and, if applicable, disposal.
Do you offer in-house decoration or decor concepts?
Currently, we do not provide our own decoration materials and do not offer decoration concept design. However, we are happy to assist with the coordination of delivery, collection, as well as set-up and dismantling.
Upon request, we can recommend experienced service providers with whom we have already successfully collaborated. The choice, of course, remains entirely up to you.
What catering options do you offer?
During the summer months from May to September, you can choose between a buffet or a seated family dinner. We are happy to discuss other formats individually.
Can we also book an entirely vegan buffet?
Yes, of course. We are happy to accommodate your wishes and preferences and take intolerances as well as allergies into account.
Is external catering possible?
Beverages are generally provided by us. Our experienced kitchen team covers a wide culinary spectrum.
If external food catering is still desired, this is possible via a buyout fee. All food must be delivered ready to eat, as kitchen use is not provided.
Is a champagne reception possible?
Yes. We would be happy to welcome you and your guests with an aperitif – in the summer garden, in the hall, or from our food truck. Whether classic sparkling wine or creative aperitif variations: We are happy to advise you.
Is there a refrigeration facility for the wedding cake?
Yes. A separate refrigerator can be provided, provided that delivery takes place during the week or on Saturdays from 2:00 PM. During brunch, the cake will be temporarily stored in the bar refrigerator.
Is there a cloakroom?
Coat racks are provided free of charge for self-service. An attended cloakroom service with cloakroom tags can be booked for an additional fee.
Are high chairs available?
Yes, we have plenty of high chairs available. Please let us know the required number in advance.
What additional services are offered besides rooms, food, and drinks?
Everything is possible, nothing is mandatory. We are happy to support you with the organization of entertainment options such as a photo booth, foosball table, or bouncy castle. Our food truck can also be used for special highlights like ice cream, popcorn, or cotton candy.
